It has been one of those days when I look at Daniel in complete dismay because if you were to compare him to any other kid his age you would not know he was sick. Today in fact, he was a perfectly obnoxious, non stop eating, homework avoiding teenage boy. And by the way notice the hair and how blonde it is. And the shaggy chin. I am really not ready for THAT. Alas, that will all be gone again in bit, but at least we know how fast it will all come back. I shook my head in amazement everytime I looked at him today. He was basically a goofy smart ass all day. I love it. Although, I could have done without the day of constant football but that is what makes him happiest. He did start the day with a bad bleeding nose and then a terrible runny nose for an hour or so which put us on the precautions watch list, meaning NO GOING OUT OF YOUR ROOM for him and anytime I leave the room for anything, I need to put on a gown, gloves and mask. This is to keep whatever germs (if any) contained in his room and not in the open to the other BMT kids on the unit. Not a big deal for Daniel to have to stay in the room since it is football watching day, but when he is eating non stop and I have to keep leaving the room to get him more food every 10 minutes, it is a pain in the butt. I know this is not anything I should complain about and the nurses are laughing hysterically because Daniel is having a great time with it watching me run back and forth a million times. It is not typical for him to still be eating like this so I won’t complain. I am just purely amused by it. This is a wonderful cause for my exhaustion and I am certainly racking up the mileage on my step counter. So no complaints here and the Doctors are thrilled with how he is doing. All his lab tests keep coming back exactly how they want them to look and things are going as well as can be expected. I know things could easily change but as long as my sense of humor can tolerate him. I would like to keep this silly kid around for the entertainment value alone.
