Yesterday lockdown, today we needed to leave the room for tornado warnings. Craziness! What is tomorrow? Locusts? It was pretty amazing how stealthily the staff got all of the children and families unhooked from their lines and out of rooms so fast and kept calm and control. There were many, MANY kids (patients, siblings, parents, visitors...) all in the hallway against the walls waiting out the storm. Remote control race cars zoomed and kids jumped around and knew it zero panic or chaos was involved. Before you knew it we were back to a very involved Scrabble game in #750 were to no surprise Daniel trumped us all with ease. I guess endless hours of Words with Friends has prepared him well for this day. Well played my friend. Well played.
We had a nice morning visit from the Perlmutters who brought some good fattening treats to help Daniel put some weight back on. Let's just hope he eats them and not me. And a visit this afternoon from Aunty Debbie who came to donate platelets. That is something anyone can always come by and do. They are always in need (or blood) She also dropped of some yummy lunch that Daniel really loved. Baba and Zadia ran some errands for us that were much appreciated and we were treated to a wonderful photo shoot this afternoon by a wonderful association that helps lift the spirits of families here at the hospital. They were here to do our hair and make up and everything. Isn't it unbelievable what they were able to do with Daniel's hair?
Daniel continues to feel really good and we are trying to fill his days with fun and laughter. Please let us know if you have ideas or suggestions to help. Football doesn't start soon enough.
