I know it is probably getting repetitive already but we are basically just hanging out waiting for count recovery. It is already the 3rd and we are on DAY 21. Hard to believe how long it has been and yes time flies. Although we haven’t been here as long as our other stays yet. All and all it has been much easier and we have filled our days more because of homework and more quality football (him on both of those, not me) but his over health has been much more stable. That is not to say there is less to do and less to watch. Yesterday was Independence Day for me. I thankfully passed my test. I was in charge of all meds and calling out for them on time and explaining what they are and what they are for and what they do. Daniel takes no less than 17 pills in the morning and 19 at night. And then some care during the day as well. It is A LOT. Everything is very timely and this with cleaning, eating, exercising and then entertainment in between, no wonder I don’t have much time to blog.
Numbers are on the rise and as far as the doctors can tell we are on the road to engraftment. Technically there is no way to know if this is happening until we see those numbers really move more, but it is trending in the right direction. DAY 28 we will be ready for another bone marrow biopsy to be able to really check what is going on inside.
Today’s plan is more homework, getting ready for end of the semester and some final prep. Daniel has been taking American Literature, Geography, Geometry and Biology. He meets with a teacher several days a week when he can and when he cannot (for various reasons) he diligently works on his own with the meanest, strictest teacher he has EVER had hanging over his head. Actually yesterday I did an activity with him and I think he appreciated it and enjoyed working together. It promptly reminded me why I am so glad I do not need to EVER DO ENGLISH work again. It was terrible. But, we did have fun working together. Who knows what shmoop is? OMG.
Also we are nearing the end of another half marathon and will probably finish in the next couple days. This mean that we will have walked a FULL MARATHON in laps. That is a great accomplishments. A funny story, two days ago we were out walking and because we had not walked in a day or two, a nurse and I were giving him a hard time. Daniel got all Mr. Attitude and said “okay you want to walk, we’ll walk, let’s go old lady (yes, he was referring to me obviously).” He yelled at me to pick up the pace and as he walked I had to actually jog to keep up, which he made me do. He made me stay with him for 16 laps to make up for the ones he had not done. 16 laps is 1 mile and that for me jogging is probably to much in my UGG slippers. He encouraged me in his demeening and humiliating way which did the trick and I did it. Regardless, I will look forward to finishing this marathon by weeks end! It is quite an accomplishment for two previously very lazy people.
