Meanwhile this morning in another country (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada), one of my dearest friends from high school sent me pictures and messages showing me how successful the bone marrow drive she and her family had organized for today. The last message I got they had signed up at least 70 young possible donors from a high school that will remain in the registry for many, many years. I am once again so overtaken by emotion seeing my childhood friends in conjunction with my parents and some of their friends, working together to make a difference in Daniel’s honor. I know this came about because Tara and Al were so touched by Daniel and our situation. Their son, Zach, is also a huge Green Bay Packers fan and maybe it is just meant to be that this next generation of our children were supposed to be brought together somehow to help. I know Tara and I will forever have a special connection and this only will deepen it further. I can’t thank the Greenberg Family enough for coordinating this drive and make the difference that I know they will for so many others. They should feel as proud of themselves as I am of them. Certain people will never know that ultimately it was their efforts that helped to find the match for them or their family member.
Tara said my parents were proudly talking about Daniel and how strong he is to everyone at the drive which made me happy and sad at the same time. She said several young girls asked about Daniel remembering him from Camp Massad where he went for several summers.
