Having a regular normal weekend. Not doing a whole heck of a lot. Just trying to stay dry with all the rain. Daniel is logging a ton of driving hours and becoming increasingly comfortable behind the wheel. Yesterday he was doing a dressing change where he has to clean his broviac site (chest tube area) in a sterile field. He likes to do this on his own. I have been fired from this task. He doesn’t like the way I do it. I guess I do not have a gentle touch with the cleaning solution that burns on his open skin. Therefore he does this procedure on his own once a week. I just consistently have to nag him to do it (which that I am excellent at he says, although he doesn’t like the way I do that either in a not so gentle way). Last night he was taking exceptionally long to finish in his spot he works at (I prep and clean the area extra good before he starts, then of course clean up his mess after). When he was done he gave me this. This is a Chloraprep stick that you crack open and use to clean the skin and sterilize. How creative and crafty and so unlike him….maybe I have rubbed off on him a little. Sweet boy. This so totally makes up for the melt down while driving today.
These are the caps or tops to one of the syringes of IV medicine Daniel takes once a day. They are delivered to the house and I administer it with several others each day. Somewhere a while after we got home a while back we realized they screwed together and alas a new collection began. Daniel has always been a collector of sorts. So day by day, injection by injection his tower has grown. Do I dare say we have been on this stuff too long????
