This morning I woke up to the most exciting thing. WE HAVE MONOCYTES!!!!! If you remember back to past rounds of chemotherapy and waiting and waiting and waiting for numbers to start recovering, monocytes were the precursor if you will to his count recovery. An early white cell. But this time you must remember these are Daniel’s NEW CELLS starting to generate and they are doing so remarkably faster than his older leukemic cells did. So here is hoping that all is going well and we are on our way to a CURED Daniel. Time will tell. Today is DAY 14. On DAY 28 Daniel will have another bone marrow biopsy to determine the exact amount of engraftment and if any of his old cells remain. It is all a terrible nail biter actually with so many steps and what ifs and today we learned about different groups he will now be part of that will follow him, basically for the rest of his life following up on so many long term conditions and factors. For now I am thinking of tomorrow and what his numbers will be and getting us one step closer to home. Actually tomorrow I am going home to partake in my Thanksgiving tradition of watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and dogshow while I cook and then bring a special meal to the hospital for Daniel while he watches football all day with Rob. It is a win win for everyone (except sadly we will be missing Matthew).
