All and all it was a very nice Thanksgiving. I got to go home and do my usual all day cooking. You know it takes just as long to cook for three as it does for 15. I watched the parade and dog show and before you know it 7 hours had passed and I had not sat down. Everything got packed up and Daniel got to go to the special BMT family eating room to eat with us. Well sort of. I think he knew we were there but not really. Three plates of food later and he finally acknowledged us. He actually weighed himself before he ate and then after finishing and gained 2.2 pounds. He said it was a good thing he was wearing his sweat pants. Jokes aside, it was so nice to eat together since we haven’t been able to this whole stay (for bacteria spreading reasons). I desperately missed Matthew today, but I know he is having a great time with his cousin Gordy. At dinner, I wanted to share how thankful I was for all our supportive friends and family I was and all the wonderful doctors and nurses and providers at the hospital and of course to the selfless bone marrow donor that has given Daniel a chance at a cure, Daniel just wanted me to get him more gravy. Guess it is just a typical Thanksgiving with the Hailpern’s after all.
