All Daniel has been talking about since we got home on Wednesday has been dropping by the school to see his friends an teachers at DJDS. Today we finally made it over in a hurried rush at the end of the day. Although I know in a way he has enjoyed some of the perks, not having to start school the same time as all of his friends I know he is missing it a lot. Going back today was hard to see everyone and some of the teachers in particular but everyone we got to see (very briefly) were so full of love for Daniel and so welcoming with a wonderful card. I am glad we went, even for only a few minutes. Daniel loves so many of his teachers and I am so grateful that they and all our school families have continued to follow the blog and stick with us as we have had to keep to ourselves so much this summer. It was so good to see you all even if we couldn't reach out and hug everyone of you.
After visiting with friends we enjoyed dinner at home with Auntie Debbie and Uncle Kevin. This was such a nice a treat because we never get to do this enough. We laughed a lot. Kevin and Daniel can talk forever about anything football but tonight we all talked and laughed about many things. Debbie has been so amazing with Daniel and helpful to us throughout everything we can't say enough to express our love to you both. We wish only the fastest, easiest recovery to Kevin.
Tomorrow will be here to soon for me. Tomorrow morning Daniel returns to the hospital for a lumbar puncture with chemotherapy and a bone marrow biopsy. We will hope and pray that the results show that Daniel is in remission and that the biopsy shows less than 5% blasts (leukemia cells). This will show that he is ready to move on to the next round of chemotherapy before his successful bone marrow transplant. He needs to be in successful remission first before the transplant with as low a level of blasts as possible. If he is below 5% this time then he will repeat the same course of treatment again for 30 days to ensure transplant success. If he is not in remission yet then the doctors will have to rethink his next course of chemotherapy to get him to the point of remission to increase his chance of a successful transplant. It is all so complicated and I don't mind repeating it to people. I just hope I am explaining it okay to everyone Regardless they want him to start right away, probably Friday. We will try to hold them off until after the weekend so we can savor a few more moments with him at home. I know he is resting well and feeling well and eating well. We will see if we can get a few more days at home.
