We had a very late wake time today due to a bad nose bleed that had us up for hours last night. Since Daniel got platelets the night before I was curious why his platelets were so low again and he needed more again last night. The P.A. told me this morning that because he got the platelets on Saturday night that chances are they were not that great and mostly expired. You see most people that donate platelets and blood do so at the beginning of the week and since there is a short shelf life on these that they likely were not very fresh and therefore didn’t hold very well and do much good. This is just a possibility, but it got me thinking that this is a good time to ask those of you not busy mid or late in the week to grab a book and head to your nearest hospital or blood bank and make a donation so that those on weekends can get fresh blood when needed. These are the things that make a difference to me now. It is nothing but time to the healthy people. We need to slow down and take some precious time away from our busy lives to help those that need it most. It is the little things that we can do to make a difference. Our healthy blood is so easily replenished. It doesn’t have to be as extreme as a bone marrow donation. In fact almost none of us are ever going to be selected to be THAT LUCKY ONE. But almost anyone can make a simple blood or plasma donation. Okay, enough of my pleas for the day.
Daniel and I have had a fun day of driving each other crazy and generally going bonkers today. He had a fabulous [P]Review show and was asked to add an extra show on Thursday this week since the Seacrest family is coming to celebrate the success of the studio. They want to showcase Daniel as a success story of what makes the studio work so well. And speaking of success stories, upon doctors’ rounds today they are thrilled with how Daniel is progressing. They say Daniel is way ahead of the curve for where they would like to see him at this point. Being and overachiever has never made me happier. He still has a very long way to go and we are still waiting to see if engraftment has even taken place. I don’t want to get ahead of myself but he certainly isn’t losing any steam in the arguing department I can assure you of that.
